Just out of curiosity, how were you actually scammed? I see no mention of what happened.

It would really help alot of you had screenshots of what he said and what he did, then you could send them to ArenaNet and hope for the best. If you don't have screenshots I suppose the best you can do is send them an email with relevent data, your in-game name, where it happened and what time it happened. They may be able to look at their logs and check it out.
Also, you shouldn't post people's names in these forums without their permission. |

like someone said above, ANet most likely wont do anything. they'll probably tell you to use better judgement next time to avoid being scammed again. i think there's a thread in here that shows you how to avoid scams and etc. not sure if it's in this forum or different one.

I think this is the wrong way to go about it. You shouldn't rely on ANet to try and get revenge on this guy. You shouldn't of put yourself in that position in the first place. You made a mistake and learned from it. Don't do it again. Ignorance is never an excuse. Now if your account got hacked into and had nothing to do with any action that you did, then contact them. Take responsibility for your actions.
>mja i didn't realy believe him that's why i gave him a sword i never use Like Paralyze said, how did you get scammed. Reading this it sounds like you weren't sure of a situation, but still handed over a weapon!!?!?!? This was you're mistake and you even admitted not trusting the situation. Then why did you? I'm not trying to be mean, this just happens a lot and no one ever assumes the blame. |

Well put Kakarat. That's what I was getting at.
Scammed is a term thrown around way to loosly. It seems to me that you were taken advantage of, and I'm sorry to be so harsh, but that would be your own fault. Accounts don't get banned for playing on others ignorance. They get banned for hacking/cheating. What happened to you could have been prevented by you, yet you insist on placing the blame elsewhere. No offense, but the blame lies solely on your shoulders. Like I said earlier, I have no idea "how" you were scammed, but reading your follow up post, it seems like everything that happened could have been prevented by you. |

look i know it was my fault and i really don't mind cause it was a low sword and i have enough money and i don't want my sword back or anything. Well i will tell you the story. I was at druid's overlook, and there was some guy who was saying he could upgrade your max dmg. At first i didn't believe him and i actually never did but some how i still gave him my sword and money. I know it sounds stupid but i really trust people just to much. I n??know it could have been prevented by myself but u put to much trust in other people and i forget that some of them can rip you off. And i know i am not the only person who will have a same problem like mine. And remember it was only a question, you don't have to be hard one me and saying this i allready know. But what ever it happend so..........

Sorry to hear you were scammed. Just look at it as part of the game (it is a virtual world after all) and write it off as a learning experience. Screaming for accounts to be banned over petty things is what leads to games to being so tame and protected in the long run. So instead of looking to blame someone for being human (and maybe even just trying to be evil in a rpg) maybe you should just look inward and realize you are human and you made a mistake, accept it and continue on your journey.

Like I was saying, I'm sorry if I came off sounding like an ass, but after seeing the story, the other person did nothing wrong other than take your sword. Any time someone tells you they can do this or that blah blah if you just give them the item, laugh at them and walk away.
People play on others trust and ignorance, and you happened to fall for it. There is actually no way to ban a person like this as they are not breaking any rules at all. You traded the sword, he accepted and left. Be careful in the future and use this as a learning experience. Just remember one rule....don't trust anyone with your items/account. |

As most have pointed, besides the point that taking advantage of someones innocence is not very Ethical, the guy didnt broke any rule.
Reporting him would do nothing. If Anet would take those reports into account for ban, then anyone could report any person that traded him and just cos u payed too much for something. Quoting a earlier reply.. "Live and Learn". Online or Offline... its life. |

Actually you can only report a problem / incident you had. You cannot "ask" for an account Ban. Anet clearly tells you, that you wont know the outcome of your report. But yes, you are free to report anyone for anything. ... I'm going to start reporting Alesia when she gets me killed <- |
